Yak-40 is the world's first three-engine jet passenger aircraft for local airlines with a range of up to 1500 km. The aircraft was developed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau in 1964. The first flight took place on October 21, 1966. The cruising speed is 510 km/h. The Yak-40 became the first aircraft produced in the USSR to receive an airworthiness certificate in Western European countries. Yak-40 production continued from 1966 to 1981, with a total of 1012 aircraft produced, of which 125 were exported to 18 countries worldwide.
