Soviet heavy tank KV-1
The production of heavy KV tanks armed with a 76-mm gun began at the Leningrad Kirov Plant (LKZ) in February 1940. This tank embodied the most advanced ideas of its time: individual torsion bar suspension, reliable shell-proof armor, a diesel engine, and a single powerful universal gun that allowed it to fire both at enemy tanks,
as well as at his field fortifications, artillery, and manpower. By the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, LKZ had built 386 KVs.
