The first prototype models of the GAZ-66 were designed in 1962 and were a further development of the GAZ-62 truck, which had a payload capacity of 1.2 tons and was produced from 1958 to 1962. Mass production of the GAZ-66 began in July 1964. Since 1968, these vehicles have been equipped with a central tire pressure regulation system. The last GAZ-66 rolled off the assembly line on July 1, 1999, and was the 965,941st vehicle of this model produced. The model is excellently designed and highly detailed. Excellent detailing, double-sided printing where required—the instructions impress with the abundance of diagrams and their good readability.
