Based on the results of the combat trials of the KV tank during the Finnish War in 1940, the Military Council of the Northwestern Front decided to equip the combat vehicle with a 152-mm howitzer. The troops needed a tank to destroy the defensive structures of the "Mannerheim Line." By February, three KVs with the "large" MT-1 turret, manufactured at the Leningrad Kirov Plant (LKZ), arrived at the front, where they received positive evaluations from the military. In August-September 1940, a "large lowered" turret of a lightweight design was created at LKZ.From the fall of 1940 to June 1941, 180 tanks of this type were assembled at the LKZ. It is precisely this 1941 KV-2 tank that this model replicates. Almost all KV-2s were lost in the heavy battles of 1941, but at least one tank from the Leningrad Front managed to fight at the 'Nevsky Pyatachok' in the winter of 1941, and later participated in the Krasnoborsk offensive operation of 1943, where it encountered German 'Tigers'.
